Education: BSc Chem.Eng. (Khartoum University – Sudan 1980), MSc Chem.Eng. (Strathclyde University in Glasgow –UK 1988), PhD Chem.Eng. (French Petroleum Institute in Paris - University of Compiegne 1993).
Areas of Experience: Petroleum Refining, Environment Management, Petrochemicals and Process Engineering Design. Honorary visiting Professor at Cardiff University – UK 2006. Honorary DSc at University of Strathclyde 2010.
Responsibilities: Implementation of the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) and particularly for the industrial sector where UNIDO has a comparative advantage. The industrial sectors include: waste incineration, cement, pulp and paper, metallurgical sector, power generation, chlorine based chemicals, waste oil refineries, and shredding plants for end of life vehicles.
