Sadhan K Ghosh,教授,印度贾达普大学机械工程系

Prof. Sadhan K. Ghosh, Professor & Head of Mechanical Engineering and the founder coordinator of the Centre for Quality Management System at Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India is a renowned personality in the field of waste management, green manufacturing and TQM. He served as the Director, CBWE in the ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India. He has initiated the movement for worldwide sustainable development with partners in many countries in Asia, Australia, Africa, Europe and USA through the “Task Force for International Cooperation on Waste Utilization” (TF4ICWU). He is the convener of ISO TC 61 WG24.

He has been awarded the Distinguished Visiting Fellowship 2012 by the Royal Academy of Engineering, UK invited by Aston University, UK to work on ‘Energy Recovery from Municipal Solid Waste’. He has been awarded the UKIERI 2011-13 Research Project on “Climate Change Issues and Environmental Performance of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) in India and the UK” and UKIERI 2012-14 Research Project on “Waste to Energy from Municipal Waste – DSS for planning and implementation in India” as India Leader. He was invited by the Green Trade Project Office, Ministry of Economics Affairs, Taiwan, ROC for Keynote Speech in the International Conference on the “Green Market & Green Consumption” in March 2013. Prof. Ghosh is popularizing waste to energy technology and other treatment options avoiding landfill in ULBs & Industries in India and other countries. He has also a significant contribution in the areas of rural and unorganized sectors. He visited universities and industries in several countries like China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, UK and USA for delivering keynote speeches, chaired technical sessions, conducting ISO meetings and collaborative research. He chaired the ISO TC 61 WG2 meeting at Florida, USA, in 2008 and Bangkok in 2010 and Kuala Lumpur in 2011. He participated ISO TC 207 Environment Management Systems meeting in Kuala Lumpur in July 2012 as Indian delegation.

He received patent on “eco-friendly plastics recycling” and another is awaited for his machines & processes” & one awaited on “Automatic High Speed Jute Ribboning Machine” innovated by him. He received the Boston Pledge and NABC 2006 award for the most eco-friendly innovation “conversion of plastics & jute waste to wealth” in the ESP/50K Business Plan Competition at Houston, Texas, USA.

“A Guide of TQM”, is remarkable out of his 9 books written. He edited 22 volumes on “Sustainable Quality Management”, “Waste Management”, “Sustainable Waste Management”, “Quality & Food Safety of Packaged Drinking Water” and many others. More than 75 papers in international and national journals and proceedings are authored by him. Professor Ghosh has been the principal investigator of more than 22 research projects being the thesis adviser and examiner of several doctoral theses on Waste Management, Six Sigma, Quality Management, Environment Management, Safety management and TQM. He carried out research at Aston University, UK. He is the reviewer and editor of some international journals. His areas of research are Waste Management, TQM, ISO Standards, Bio Energy, Recycling, Carbon Footprints and Climate change, Jute Ribboning, Education and Training, Performance Improvement, Project Management & Engineering, Quality Environment Energy and Safety Management systems etc.

In India, he is the member in technical committee for the procurement of Vehicles in the dept. of Fire & Emergency Services, Govt. of West Bengal and JAICA Funded Sanitary Landfall Project of KMDA. He is the state level advisory committee member of Plastics Waste (Management and Handling) Rule 2011. He was the member of consent committee in WB Pollution Control Board in 2006 & 2007. He is the member in The Court in Jadavpur University, the highest body in the university. He is the member of PCD 12 in BIS for ISO TC 61 and panel expert in CHD 34 for ISO TC 207.

He is the founder and president of “International Society of Waste Management, Air and Water” (ISWMAW) and the chairman of the “Indian Congress on Quality, Environment, Energy and Safety Management Systems”.

He trained more than 9,000 senior management personnel, 14,000 workers in 140 industries and 17,000 engineering students in the university in last 30 years.
