The 6th International Conference on Waste Management and Technology (ICWMT) opened on the morning of August 30 at Jinji Lake Shilla Hotel in Suzhou Industrial Park.

Nearly 400 officials and experts from over 20 countries registered for the three-day event and the scheduled topics of discussion include the management and technologies of household wastes, electronic wastes management policies, the treatment and disposal of hazardous wastes and civil sludge, as well as the reducing, recycling, and reusing of solid wastes as energies.

The organizer invites senior officials and prestigious experts to make keynote speeches at the conference, with an aim of promoting exchanges and cooperation between government and industries. To familiarize the participants with industrial progresses, the organizer also arranges participants to visit industrial leaders.
The ICWMT is one of the international academic events jointly launched by Basel Convention Coordinating Centre for Asia and the Pacific and Solid Waste Management Center of Ministry of Environmental Protection. Since its inauguration in 2004, the event has become an important platform to expound scientific findings, to introduce proven practices, to discuss environment-related issues, and to find solutions.
