Hazardous Waste Management Workshop, which was a branch session of the 9th International Conference on Waste Management and Technology (ICWMT 9), was successfully held in Beijing, China in the afternoon of October 30, 2014. More than 40 participants, including leaders of local government departments, representatives from industry and academia attended the workshop.

The workshop was presided over by Dr. Xiaofei Sun from Basel Convention Regional Centre for Asia and the Pacific (BCRC Beijing), leaders of hazardous waste management departments of local government from Hunan Province, Shanxi Province, Tianjin, Jingmen (Hubei province), representatives from industry and academia related to hazardous waste treatment and disposal participated and reported on the workshop. Speakers from local governments introduced current status, problems and demands of hazardous waste management in different areas. Hazardous waste management mechanism, capacity building of regulators, treatment and disposal facilities construction and other issues were discussed thoroughly during the workshop.
