Henan Province enjoys the distinctive advantages of geographic location and integrated resources. It is an important connection and gathering place for the transfer of China’s industry from the east to the west. Historically, Henan has been regarded as an essential place for business. In recent years, steadfastly focusing on speeding up industrialization, urbanization, and agricultural modernization, Henan has successfully realized the historic leap from a major agricultural province to a big economic province and newly emerging industrial province in China. In 2007, the total economic output of Henan surmounted RMB1.5 trillion, keeping its 5th rank and making it one of the most dynamic places nationwide. In the coming period, Henan will seize the significant strategic opportunities of domestic and international industry transfer as well as the “central China rising”. It will adhere to the scientific concept of development to guide the overall situation so as to realize the sound and fast social and economic development, and play a major role in the prosperity of central China.

The economic development of Henan has created new opportunities for the academic research and application of modern industrial engineering and engineering management. As an academic platform, this conference will facilitate the exchange of experience and achievement, foster the in-depth discussion and research on the management innovation theory and method.

We sincerely expect more talents in the IE&EM field to plant, cultivate, harvest and take root in central China!

The conference includes the following sessions and activities: keynote speech, invited speech, business leader forum, and site-visits to enterprises. We’ll be honored to invite Academician Wang Yingluo, Academician Wang Zhongtuo, Academician Guo Chongqing, and Academician Liu Yuanzhang to give the keynote speech. The conference will be sponsored by Department of Management Science of National Natural Science Foundation of China and MSE Guidance Committee of Ministry of Education.

All accepted papers will be included in the conference proceeding, which will be published by China Machine Press（English papers will be published in full-length）, and submitted to the international index & citation organization ISTP （the previous proceedings of IE & EM conference were included by ISTP）. Some excellent papers will be recommended to international journals, such as <Industrial Engineering Magazine> (Korea);< Journal of the Chinese Institute of Industrial Engineers >（Taiwan）; < Computer Integrated Manufacturing System >  (China); < Journal of Mechanical Engineering > (China); and < Systems Engineering—Theory & Practice> (China).

The theme of this conference is: the Management Innovation and Industrial Engineering for the Rise of Central China.

The tenet of the conference is to keep up with China’s economic construction, take the opportunity of Henan’s economic development, discuss the management innovation theory and method and facilitate disciplines' development.
