Dr. Wang, a clinical research professor in the Department of Symptom Research at MD Anderson Cancer Center, University of Texas, received her medical degree in China and trained there as a medical oncologist. Her research focuses on quantitative interpretation and tool validation for measuring patient-reported outcomes (PROs), the impact of culture on symptom reporting, the impact of symptom reduction on clinical outcomes in oncology care, and translational research on inflammatory mechanism-driven interventions for symptoms produced by aggressive treatments, such as chemoradiation and major surgery. She is especially interested in measuring and understanding fatigue-related symptom burden. Her research has been funded by NIH, American Cancer Society, other foundations and pharmaceutical companies. She has published more than 90 papers in peer-reviewed journals, some of which are in high-impact journals. Recent years, she has been actively contributing to the clinical research for improving patient outcomes via palliative care and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), through collaborating projects in China. She is currently holding the Guest Professorship in Peking University of Cancer Hospital, and Visiting Professorship in Tongji Hospital, HuaZhong University of Science and Technology.
