Title: Oceanic submesoscale processes: Characteristics, impacts, and observations

Dr. Haijin Cao

Hohai University, China

Dr. Haijin Cao is now serving as an associate professor in the College of Oceanography, Hohai University. With a master's degree in Physical Oceanography and a Ph.D. in Harbor, Coastal, and Offshore Engineering, his expertise spans the realms of ocean science and engineering. He visited Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands from 2014 to 2015 and Brown University in the United States in 2019. Since 2020, Dr. Cao has actively contributed as a Technical Program Committee member in the International Society of Offshore and Polar Engineers (ISOPE). He is now working on a range of topic in ocean dynamics. A major focus has been submesoscale dynamics in the upper ocean, including modelling, observations, and analyzing methods, and he has published a couple of papers in this topic. Recently, he has particular research interest in inferring and reconstructing oceanic mesoscale and submesoscale processes from current and future satellite observations (e.g., SWOT).
