An Integrated Imaging and Target Detection Method for Spaceborne SAR

With the booming development of satellite technology, the era of big data in microwave remote sensing is coming. In recent years, SAR satellite constellations have been established and huge amounts of data have been accumulated. To discover intelligence information in SAR images and make rapid responses, one of the essential research fields is how to promptly image and automatically interpret. Generally, the imaging and target detection processes of spaceborne SAR are separated, which greatly constrained the real-time performance of target detection missions. Aiming at the above problems, an integrated technique of imaging and target detection for spaceborne SAR is carried out, which focuses on the data processing flow. Firstly, the imaging algorithm is improved and accelerated by the FPGA platform. Then the target detection model is lightweighted to improve the inference speed and facilitate portability. Finally, by optimizing resource allocation and pipelined processing, an integrated imaging and object detection method is proposed. The imaging efficiency and target detection speed have been improved. The proposed method lays a technical foundation for the imaging, detection, and fast response for spaceborne SAR.

Wei Yang, who was borned in May 1983, is currently a associate professor at Beihang University and has been awarded the national 'Four Young Talents'. His main research areas is intelligent signal processing of remote sensing image information. He has significant innovative outputs in signal simulation, intelligent detection and recognition, image information extraction and characterization. He has published over a hundred papers, with more than 40 of them published in SCI journals. He has been granted more than 20 national patents as the first inventor. He has undertaken over 20 projects as the principle investigator, including Key Research Project of the Ministry of Science and Technology, China,  National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), and Foundation Strengthening Field Fund. He has received the First Prize of Military Science and Technology Progress Award twice and the Second Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress Awards of National Defense.
