Teaching and research experience

Professor Dong’s job duty includes three aspects:  firstly, doing some research work such as charging the projects supported by Nations or states. Secondly, doing some teaching courses, such as mineralogy, crystallography, applied mineralogy, and eco-mineral materials, physical-chemistry. Thirdly, with his research project to guide the thesis of some graduated students and some senior students.

Professor Dong had done an outstanding achievement on function mineral materials and environmental mineral materials research. He proposes a combination of Materials- Environmental-Ecological-Health, put forward the application principle of environmental harmony materials that was “from the natural compatible with natural, for natural, back to nature”. He vigorously developed the health self-regulating and self-purification materials and had applied the traditional Chinese herbs to create health and environment-friendly materials.

Professor Dong has been engaged in the teaching and research activities of mineral materials and material physical-chemicals. He undertook successively the education project, supported by Ministry of Education, National Bureau of Building Materials Industry etc more than 10 items. He gained an outstanding textbook first class prize of national of building materials industry and outstanding scientific and technological book second class prize in Southwest and Northwest region. He presided and finished successively National 863 Plan project, the National Natural Science Fund of China project, CIDA project, the Ministry of Education, the National Building Materials Industry Fund Project, the National Bureau's projects and the provincial and ministerial supported projects etc more than 20 items. For example, he presided and finished the National “Tenth Five-Year” 863 project that was On the Eco-functional Elementary Materials and Integration Technology of Composite Building Materials”, National Natural Science Foundation of China projects that were “Study on the Surface Medial-matter of Bio-activity Mineral Fiber and its Activation Mechanism”; Ministry of Education Prize for outstanding young teachers project that was “Mineral Materials and Environmental Mineral Engineering”; Sichuan Province Outstanding Youth Fund project that was “Study on the role of Ultrafine Powder Microorganism and its Treatment”. He had attended in the international meetings many times in Japan, Canada, the United Kingdom, Brazil, the United States, Germany and others; he gained a science and technology progress provincial second prize once, provincial third prize more than ten times. He had published about 160 papers, on surface properties of fibrous brucite minerals, characteristics of Ultra-fine processing, environmental safety assessment, application of biological activity etc, more than 50 papers of which had been cited by SCI, EI and ISTP. He possesed many inventions patents (3 papers had been authorized); As the fisrt author, he had edited four monographs: Eco-functional Elementary Materials and Integration Technology of Composite Building MaterialsandStudy on Applied Mineralogy of Fibrous Bruciteetc . As the first author, he had edited three special issuesResearch on Environmental Mineralogy and Environmental Medicineetc . As the third author, he had edited the textbookApplied Mineralogy.
