With the advent of VLSI system level integration and system-on-chip, the center of gravity of the computer industry is now moving from personal computing into embedded computing. Embedded software and systems are increasingly becoming a key technological component of all kinds of complex technical systems, ranging from vehicles, telephones, aircraft, toys, security systems, to medical diagnostics, weapons, pacemakers, climate control systems, and on.

   The ICESS (International Conference of Embedded Software and System), found in 2002, permits researchers, developers, and providers from academia and industry to address the challenges and discuss their new ideas, research results, applications, and experience in the embedded system. ICESS aims to improve international communication and cooperation and to promote embedded software and system industrialization and wide applications on all aspects of embedded software and systems. All papers accepted in the ICESS proceedings will be published by Springer LNCS, and indexed by EI and SCI. In the ICESS’08, all accepted papers will be published by IEEE-CS and indexed by EI, and some selected papers will be published by special issue of two journals and indexed by SCIE.
   The 2008 International Conference on embedded Software and Systems (ICESS’08) will be held in Chengdu, as a sequence of ICESS’04 in Hangzhou, ICESS’05 in Xi’An, ICESS’06 in Shanghai, China, and, ICESS’07 in Daegu, South Korea. Chengdu is the capital of Sichuan (Szechwan) Province in southwestern China, a modern metropolitan with 2310-year history and rich cultural heritage, featuring relaxing lifestyle, spicy Szechwan cuisine, lovely rare panda and numerous historic and scenery sites nearby including three UNESCO World Heritages (cultural heritages: Dujiangyan-Qingcheng Mountain, Emei Mountain-Leshan Giant Buddha; natural heritage: Jiuzhaigou-Huanglong).

 

 

   The goal of ICESS’08 is to provide a forum for scientists, engineers, and researchers to discuss and exchange their new ideas, 
novel results, work in progress and experiences on all aspects of embedded software and systems. Topics of particular interest include,

Submission:
   All papers must be written in English and submitted electronically through http://icess2008.comp.polyu.edu.hk.  A submission should include an abstract, 
5-10 keywords, the e-mail address of the corresponding author, and must not exceed 15 pages, including tables and figures, with PDF 
format. The material must not be published or under submission elsewhere. Submission of a paper should be regarded as an undertaking 
that, should the paper be accepted, at least one of the authors must attend the conference to present the work in order that the accepted 
papers can be put into the digital library of IEEE CS (indexed by EI Compendex). The selected best papers will be published in special issues of 
Journal of Embedded Computing (JEC), International Journal of Embedded Systems, International Journal of High Performance 
Computing and Networking and Journal of System-on-Chip.
