会议背景介绍： The International Symposium on Liquid Crystalline Science and Technology (ISLCST2009) will be held during August 2-6, 2009 in Kunming, China. The purpose is to provide opportunities for liquid crystal scientists, researchers, and engineers around the world to present their pioneering works and exchange their ideas with each other. During the conference, advancements in all aspects of liquid crystals will be covered.

Proceedings will be published in one special volume of the periodical Key Engineering Materials by Trans Tech Publications, which widely indexed by Ei Compendex, ISI (ISTP), Elsevier SCOPUS, Cambridge Scientific Abstracts (CSA), Chemical Abstracts (CA), and Institution of Electrical Engineers (IEE). Submitted full-length papers are subject to normal peer-review process before they are accepted for publication. Officially published proceedings can be ordered by participants at discounted price.
 
征文范围及要求： The conference solicits original and state-of-the-art contributions to the related topics in invited talks, oral presentations, and posters. The topics include but are not limited to:
- Molecular design, synthesis, and new materials and phases
- Physical characterizations of liquid crystals
- Theoretical and modeling of liquid crystals
- Photonics and display applications
- Biological materials and lyotropic systems
- Emerging technologies for information display (OLED,PLED...)
- Ancillary materials for information display
- Others
