Theme of the Forum：Global Waste Management

Rationale to the Forum:

UN Environment-Tsinghua Students’ Forum is co-organized by the United Nations Environment Programme (UN Environment) and Basel Convention Regional Centre for Asia and the Pacific. This forum intends to provide a leading platform to discuss the issues related to waste management globally, which is expected to contribute to sustainable development goals and green future.

UN Environment is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system, and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment.

ICWMT is an important platform for specialists and officials to discuss scientific problems related to solid waste management, to exchange their experiences, and to seek innovative solutions. Initiated by Basel Convention Regional Centre for Asia and the Pacific and approved by the Ministry of Environmental Protection of the People’s Republic of China, ICWMT has been held 12 times since its inception in 2005. In yearly basis, ICWMT attracts a great number of participants from the governmental units, top research institutes, prestigious universities and industrial enterprises within China and abroad.

This forum is an important session of the 13Th International Conference on Waste Management and Technology (ICWMT 13), which will be held in from 21st to 24th March 2018, in Beijing, China (http://2018.icwmt.org), with the theme of “Overall Control of Environmental Risks”.

Note: Presentations are the first priority. It is also accepted the submission of Posters and/or Full Papers related to your presentation.

Call for Presentations

Welcome Presentations related to the following topics:

·         Sustainable Development

·         Environmental Management

·         Chemicals and waste

·         Spent Batteries / Waste Coatings

·         Marine Litter (Plastics)

·         Waste Paper / Plastic

Participants: Undergraduate / Graduate students whose major is Environment.

Forum Form:

Oral Presentations: Oral presentation related to the forum topic, 20 minutes, including 5 minutes for Q and A.

Posters and/or Papers: Posters and/or Full Papers related to your presentation and posters will be showed during the poster display session.

The authors of the selected outstanding presentations will be awarded certificate by the members of the steering committee. If you prepare posters or submit full papers, the participants’ feedback on them will partially impact on the selection of the outstanding papers.

If you submit a paper, the papers will be complied into the “Proceedings of the Thirteenth International Conference on Waste Management and Technology”. The selected outstanding papers will be recommended to submit to related magazines, such as Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering (FESE). We look forward to your contributions.
