ICWMT 13 Information Note

Conference Venue

The 13th International Conference on Waste Management and Technology （ICWMT13）will be held in Xijiao Hotel, Beijing at 9:00 am on March 22nd, 2018. The conference continues for three days till March 24th. A field trip will be organized on March 21st. Xijiao Hotel is located in the core area of Zhongguancun which is also known as “the silicon valley of China”.

Onsite registration

Participants are recommended to register at the conference venue (Xijiao Hotel) on March 20th March 21st (Starting from 10 am). It is recommended that all participants wear the badge during the entire conference. Registration fees can be paid at the conference venue, and can only be paid by credit card.

For funded participants, please submit the following original documents to the registration desk(where applicable):

? Boarding passes (all legs of journey)

? Photocopy of passport (first page and the page with entry visa stamp)

Accommodation

Buffet Lunch will be provided in Xijiao Hotel between 11:30 to 13:30 on the 22nd and 23rd of March. Please bring the meal coupons which are given to you during the registration when you go for the lunch.There will be a reception dinner on the 22nd of March.

For funded experts, we have booked rooms in Xijiao Hotel. For the others, please make a reservation.

Room price: 450 RMB/night, excluding breakfast; Single room 460 RMB/night, including breakfast (meeting price)

Transportation

The distance from airport to Xijiao Hotel is about 30 kilometers, taking about one hour drive. You have three methods to transfer. Please prepare some cash for other currencies would not be accepted by driver/ticket seller.

Taxi

Duriation: about 1 hour;

Cost: about 150 RMB.

Subway

The cost is about 30 RMB. After you exit from Wudaokou Station, it takes about 10 minutes’ walking to Xijiao Hotel 

Airport bus

Tsinghua University Science Park (TusPark) Station is the final station of bus line 5

(http://en.bcia.com.cn/traffic/airport-bus/index.shtml).

The cost for bus is about 30 RMB in the day (6:50-21:00) and 50 RMB at the night (21:00-04:00). It is about 20 minutes’walk from the station to Xijiao Hotel as bellow: The operation time of airport bus is normally from 6:50 to 24:00. Please prepare cash in RMB because other currencies would not be accepted by driver/ticket seller.

Technical Visit

In order to join the technical visit on the 21st, participants should choose one route in the “Tours” section on the conference website. One person can only choose one route in order to avoid the time conflicts.

For the participants who want to join the technical visits, please assemble in the lobby of Xijiao Hotel at 13:00 on March 21st, 2018.

Language

English is the official language of the conference and simultaneous Chinese-English interpretation will be arranged during the Plenary Session of the conference on the 22nd and 23rd of March. Accepting equipments are provided and can be obtained by presenting valid ID and passport at the conference entrance. The language of the parallel sessions on the 24th is mainly Chinese.

Currency

The currency used in China is known as the Chinese Renminbi (RMB). The most common bill is 100RMB and is what is distributed by the ATMs.

Bank of China (中国银行) is near the meeting venue.

Electricity

The power supply in China is mainly 220V/60Hz. The outlet has two or three holes indicated in the following photos. If you want to buy one in China, you can do so at a duty free shop at the airport.

China’s standard time zone is GMT + 8 hours.

Information about Beijing

Food

Chinese are famous for their cuisine. Chopsticks are the main table utensils in China. There are many kinds of food in China. They are Cantonese food, Sichuan food, Shanghai food, Hunan food and so on. Generally speaking, Cantonese food is a bit light, Sichuan food is very hot, Shanghai food is rather oily, and Hunan dishes are very spicy, having a strong and hot taste. Mapo Beancurd, steamed fish sweet and sour pork ribs, spring roll and many Chinese dishes are very delicious.
