As stated in the 14th Five-Year Plan, innovation remains at the heart of China’s modernization drive. The development of science and technology has increasingly assumed strategic importance for China’s national development. It is crucial to build cutting-edge technologies to spur economic growth, meet the country’s critical needs, and improve people’s health. The success in building a science and technology giant hinges on the development of science and education, talent building, and innovation, including institutional support for innovation. Globally, science and technology have been playing an increasingly important role in social and economic development, making innovation-boosted development an inevitable trend. As a new round of technological revolution and industrial reforms takes shape, a stronger momentum for innovative breakthroughs is witnessed in some scientific difficulties and core and key technologies. In the global arena of technological competition, only the innovator can forge ahead, stand out and savor the victory. In some technical fields, China has now evolved from a nation that “catches up” to one that “runs along” and even “takes the lead.” Nevertheless, we should be keenly aware that our foundation for technological innovation is weak, and the gap we have with developed countries in the innovative strength, especially in some technological fronts, is alarmingly widening. Therefore, it is a priority to improve our innovation strength and create an innovation-encouraging environment in our initiative to build an innovation-driven country and a world-leading technological power.

2021 International Conference on Mechanical Engineering and Automation (MEA 2021) will be organized as a parallel session of The 3^rd International Academic Exchange Conference on Science and Technology Innovation & Inaugural Meeting (IAECST 2021). The parallel session will be hosted by AEIC Academic Exchange Information Center. We warmly welcome previous and prospected authors submit your new research papers to MEA 2021, and share the valuable experiences with the scientist and scholars around the world.

To adapt to this changing world and China' s fast development in this new era, The 3^rd International Academic Exchange Conference on Science and Technology Innovation & Inaugural Meeting (IAECST 2021) is to be held in December 10-12, 2021. Organized jointly by over ten universities and academic societies, this conference takes “bringing together global wisdom to promote high-quality development” as the theme and focuses on cutting-edge research fields including information technology, artificial intelligence, biomedicine, big data, water conservancy project, civil engineering, construction engineering, new energy and new materials. This conference aims to boost development of the Greater Bay Area, expand channels of international academic exchange in science and technology, build a sharing platform of academic resources, promote scientific innovation on the global scale, improve academic cooperation between China and the outside world. It also aims to encourage exchange of information on research frontiers in different fields, connect the most advanced academic resources in China and abroad, turn research results into industrial solutions, bring together talents, technologies and capital to boost development.

All submissions of MEA 2021 will be peer reviewed by 2-3 experts. Accepted papers after proper registration and presentation will be published by (ISBN: 978-1-6654-0267-5) as an individual chapter in IAECST 2021 , which will be archived in the IEEE Xplore, and indexed by EI Compendex, Scopus, etc.

All accepted full papers will be published by IEEE (ISBN: 978-1-6654-0267-5) as an individual chapter in IAECST 2021 conference proceedings, which will be published by IEEE and submitted to EI Compendex & Scopus for indexing.
